About
This project, the Mile Marker Trail Running Sock for Outdoor Research (OR), identified a key gap in OR’s running line and delivered a high-performance solution for ultra-distance athletes. Empathy and market research showed that existing socks fail to prevent blisters, hot spots, fatigue, and poor thermal regulation during long events.
The Mile Marker sock addresses these issues by combining NASA’s Carbon Fiber–Carbon Nanotube (CNT) Hybrid Yarn with sustainable Suri alpaca wool. The CNT yarn enhances thermal regulation and durability, while targeted cushioning and a dynamic arch wrap improve circulation, compression, and comfort in high-impact zones.
Strategically, the Mile Marker fills a major void in OR’s product portfolio, offering meaningful protection and performance benefits for endurance runners.
